A fire broke out Tuesday at a Minnesota power plant that was under construction, causing a fire that killed one person, authorities said.
The Twin Cities Fire Department reported that firefighters responded to a call about a power plant fire at the Bancroft Energy Center in Bancrod, Minnesota, around 7:30 p.m.
The fire was contained to a gas-fired power plant and no other injuries were reported.
Fire officials said it appeared the blaze was started by sparks from a gas turbine, a common method of creating smoke, the Associated Press reported.
The power plant had about 2,000 employees.
No other details were immediately available.
